Beginner Class – (4 classes $255 + $35 materials fee = $290)This four week class covers all the basic techniques required to use the main bed of the knitting machine, including cast-on and cast-off, striping, increasing and decreasing, short rowing plus some troubleshooting techniques. This course is appropriate for complete beginners, or those who want to brush up on their knowledge.

This course introduces you to the ribber bed and expands your repertoire of stitches. It is suitable for those who are already familiar with main bed techniques. You will learn ribber cast-on and cast-off, shaping, ribs structures, basic cables, plating, jacquard and racking.

Garment Class – (6 classes, $360 + $95 materials fee) – to be announced
Garment Three Day Intensive – ($380 + $95 materials fee = $455) (to follow Ribber Intensive)
This class allows students to further cement their skills on the knitting machine, learn design skills and walk away with a custom sweater. Exercise your creativity working with your own pattern and color or work from a written pattern. Learn how different rib starts affect the fit, learn how to calculate sizing, dimensions and shaping. Learn finishing techniques including the linker. Have invaluable instruction as you work through your first garment. Materials fee is waived if you supply your own yarn. All 4 Classes Together – Beginner/Patterning/Ribber/Garment Intensive ($1400 – materials included) For the first time, all four machine knitting classes are being offered back to back. Go from a complete beginner to your first garment in two weeks with a (hopefully) sunny weekend to explore Seattle in between. Beverages and snacks provided. Please bring a lunch. Technology Intensive – to be announced
($695 per person or $3000 for a group of six) This course presents students with the basic principles of weft knit construction. Lectures and lab work will allow the student to develop skills in identifying different knit structures, understand sweater garment construction and learn industry standard communication practices.
9am- 12pm & 1pm – 4pm. Beverages and snacks provided. Please bring a lunch.
Cable Class (one day class) Saturday May 4th ($130 + $25 material fee = $155)
We’ll start with a simple 2 over 2 cable and take it from there. Students can work at their own pace and get as complicated as they like. Direction and encouragement will be given for larger more complex cables including traveling stitches and main bed to ribber transfers. By the end of the day not only will you have accumulated a small cable library, you will be comfortable with using the transfer tools, cabling and maybe even designing your own cables! Knowledge of main bed and ribber essential.
