One-on-One Portfolio Development

Swatches.jpg

The purpose of this one-on-one class is to assist students who want to beef up their portfolio and enhance their knitwear knowledge with an eye toward career advancement.

This intensive seminar would start with the domestic knitting machine (Brother or Toyota) and spend a day on each of the following: basic techniques, patterning and ribber techniques. The day could be structured with a couple of hours one-on-one in the morning, then a couple of hours of you working on your own on the machine (with help as needed!), lunch, then in the afternoon, another couple of hours on further techniques, followed by another couple of hours of independent work and experimentation.

By the end of the three days, you would have a swatch book with all the basic techniques and a few fabrics you developed on your own. If you wanted to stay another couple of days you could work in the studio at 'open studio' rate ($10 per hour or 12 hours for $100) and create designs for your portfolio. Alternatively, students could learn some industrial machine techniques on the 12gg machine.

COST: Three days of teaching = $1000. Industrial machine classes = $500 for two days. All materials would be provided.
